Sonic Office Building
The Sonic Bricktown office building is part of the revitalization of Oklahoma City's first commercial warehouse district, Bricktown, begun in the 1890’s and reborn in the early 1980's.
Although this four story 100,000 square foot office building is new construction, it is designed to be in harmony with the context of the Bricktown historic district.
One of the few buildings in the nation to be constructed of four story, tilt-up concrete panel walls, this structure features cast stone elements and exposed, coated concrete to compliment its Oklahoma red brick facade. It is worthy to note that, according to the Tilt-up Concrete Association’s web site for April 2003, the concrete panels of the Sonic building are the 3rd largest and the 7th tallest panels in United States.
The building’s entrances, on both the canal and the street, showcase natural- weathered copper detailing. To complete the exterior, large expanses of green-tinted glass are set in forest green aluminum frames. The Sonic Office Building overlooks the Bricktown Canal. The top three floors of this traditionally styled building are home to the Sonic corporate headquarters while a variety of office and retail tenants will reside on the first floor, at the canal level. Across the street, south from the SBC Ballpark, the Sonic Bricktown’s site features a pedestrian plaza and an outdoor amphitheater on the bank of the canal.
Bricktown has become a tourist attraction that provides residents and visitors to Oklahoma City with an outstanding place to dine, to enjoy exciting AAA baseball, to stroll along the Bricktown canal, or to simply enjoy people-watching. With the addition of this four story office / retail building Bricktown’s already booming office space will be further enhanced.
